Felekşan Onar’s artwork series named 41X is composed of 41 glass bridges, symbolizing the historical relations in the Mediterranean.
The historical commercial and cultural relations in the Mediterranean region are reinterpreted in the artwork of Felekşan Onar. Inspired by Venetian and Ottoman architectural styles, her glass bridges are reminiscent of this shared history. 41X was premiered in Palazzo Contarini Polignac at the Venice Glass Week in 2016.
For the series, Onar studied Murano's glass-making techniques and incorporated them into her craftsmanship. The exceptional color palette of glass ateliers in the Murano Island of Venice also affected her approach, influencing her into creating a vivid series.
