MEDIATION BETWEEN THE NATURE AND SUBURBS

Located on a sloping site in Luxembourg, the reflective glass house plays an intermediary role between nature and suburbs.

The design solution provided by the architecture office 2001 for a house on this steep site relies on making use of the existing topographic situation. The building is set back from the main road with a green roof, under which the main communal spaces of the family are housed. The focal point is the open-plan 14-metres-by-six-metres kitchen, dining and living area that faces onto an enclosed patio at the side of the house.

The upper two levels, containing the bedrooms, form a clean-cut rectangular prism that erects from the green roof with reflective glass and concrete facades. The facade overlooking the main entrance is clad with reflective glass and functions like an interface between the natural and artificial surroundings.
